Interview with the founder, Hadj Khelil (directed by AVS association)

Why offer organic meat?

Hajj Khelil: Because the meat seems to be a natural continuation of the activity that we launched there almost fifteen years. We are Bio militants for a long time: we started with the dates, we developed a lot of plant and there is a time when we wanted to offer the meat to our customers and we suffered severe opposition who argued that the biological protocol forbade us. We have entered a sort of battle after which we obtained the right to market bio and properly certified halal.

What are the products you certify meats?

HK: Today there are mainly beef. Occasionally lamb can be. You should know that in the philosophy of Bio we have trouble sacrificing calves; in the spirit of Bio, allowed the

grow much as possible. We should be able to do an operation, “Bio lambs” for the next Eid. We just now a problem with poultry.

What do you bond between organic and halal?

HK: When our tradition invites us to eat foods tayyibât, that is to say in respect of the environment, respect for the animal and respect ourselves, exactly, actually the spirit of the Bio. This dietary concern about the quality of what we eat, it is in our spirituality from the beginning.
